Solihull AI Group held an AmnesTea event on Sunday 18 August at the home of group member Celia Rimington. We all had been offering up prayers and incantations for a dry day in light of last year's weather and we were rewarded with a gloriously sunny afternoon. Celia set out tables and chairs in her large, beautiful garden and erected a gazebo to shade the wonderful array of cakes that were baked by members. There were chocolate cakes, meringues, courgette cake, jam tarts, carrot cake, fairy cakes, scones with jam and cream to name but a few and visitors were told to help themselves. There was an ever flowing teapot to accompany the cakes .
We all sat in the sunshine eating our fill of cakes, drinking lots of tea , meeting and chatting to other visitor and generally enjoying the afternoon. It was a great success and we didn't run out of cakes. We asked visitors to make a donation and at the end of the day we had taken over £160. A lovely way to raise money for Amnesty which we hope to repeat.
