Fazil Kawani of Refugee Council to speak in Shrewsbury - 16 May 2012

We invite members and guests to a FREE talk by FAZIL KAWANI, Executive Director of Integration, The Refugee Council, London on WEDNESDAY 16TH MAY 2012 at 6.30 pm at THE CENTRAL BUILDING, SY1 1QG (formerly Claremont Baptist Church).   Fazil Kawani will talk about the 1951 Refugee Convention and how this Convention is relevant in terms of human rights abuses. He will also talk about the asylum system and the experience of asylum seekers in the UK.  Fazil Kawani is a Kurd born in Arbil, Iraq. He arrived in the UK as a refugee in 1980 when he was 18 years old. He qualified as a Civil Engineer, but since 1992 he has been working with refugees and asylum seekers in the UK and has many years experience working on asylum and immigration issues.  Please invite everyone you know - and put this flyer up around Shrewsbury.  No need to book. Refreshments available.
