About this group

Welcome to the website for the local Reigate and Redhill Amnesty Group.

About us

The local group in Redhill and Reigate was established in 1981 and has worked hard for 35 years to improve human rights internationally.

We meet on the first Wednesday of the month (except August) at 7.30pm at Redhill Methodist Church,Gloucester Road, Redhill, Surrey RH1 1BP.  We are always pleased to welcome any new members who wish to join us in promoting Amnesty's work, and helping us write letters for prisoners of conscience.

Come and join us!

If you would like more information before coming to one of our meetings, please email  us at: (amnesty AT cybercognito.com) .

How to get involved

The aim of the local group is to support the work of the wider Amnesty Internationaland UK organisations. There are three ways that you can get involved locally:

  • Letter-writing - it is really important to keep the pressure on in the fight against human rights abuse internationally. The Amnesty letter writing campaign makes abusers aware that they are being watched, puts pressure on governments to act and gives solidarity to those in difficult predictaments.

  • Fund-raising - we always need money to support the work of Amnesty, both locally and more widely. We hold a street collection in Reigate every June. We are always looking for new, innovative and fun ways of raising money, so come and share your ideas with us!

  • Awareness-raising - we need to ensure that Amnesty's work keeps a high profile. Locally we hope to expand this work through ensuring press coverage of our fundraising events, and of key Amnesty campaigns.
