Acoustic Artistry in aid of Amnesty International

Simon Davies & Evan Mcgregor,

Tarik Bashir,

Hosted by Simon Davies.

Tarik Beshir, the leader of The Brickwork Lizards, opens our acoustic fundraiser for Amnesty. Tarki is a well-known band on the Oxford music scene. Tarik will be playing solo, performing traditional Egyptian tunes on the Oud, a type of 10-string madonolin. Tarik is well-known for being a virtuoso on this instrument and has played at Oxford Amnesty Acoustic evenings before.
Simon Davies will be singing and playing his own songs on classical guitar; featuring a mix of bossa-novas, rumbas and jazz waltz, including songs from his recent album ‘Keepsake’. He will be joined by Evan McGregor on cajone, a type of South-American drum. Evan plays with several bands on drums as well as playing various festivals and is a superb and well-respected local musician.

Finishing off the evening is Huffenpuff, a souped-up folk duo consisting of Jo Hamilton (soprano sax/flute) and Rupert Alison (accordion) who play folk tunes, polkas and waltzs always with plenty of verve and energy. Huffenpuff are well known on the Oxford music scene, having played extensively in and around Oxford.

Friday 12th October, 8pm at The Albion Beatnik Bookshop, 34 Walton Street, Oxford OX2 6AA.

£5 / £4 cons.

All proceeds to Amnesty International... the human right thing to do.
