Voices of India event on 18 May
On Saturday 18 May from 1000 to 1130 we are holding an event at the Quaker Meeting House, Bancks Street, Minehead, to draw attention to human rights issues in India. Cherry Bird, AIUK's volunteer country coordinator for India, will talk about freedom of speech and women's rights in India, and will alternate this information with poetry and readings. There will be an information display about human rights in India and actions for people to take in support of two human rights defenders, Salima Memcha and Pavitri Manjhi. We will be serving Indian chai and snacks, and playing Indian music in the background.
By holding this event on a Saturday morning, we are hoping that people who can't come to events mid-week might be able to join us this time. All members and supporters are very welcome to come along.
