About this group
Melbourne and District AI group (MADAIG) was formed after inspiring work by founder member Vicky Murray who organised a meeting on Human Rights Day, December 2011. The members who started the group included people from groups further afield for whom Melbourne is now their closest group. They were joined by others who had heard of the work of Amnesty through the Greeting Card Campaign. The Group includes a long-time A.I. Trainer (who was also a West Midlands Representative), and an A.I. schools speaker.
MAIDAG will concentrate on any initiative supporting people in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA).
The group has decided, after a very succesful 2013 Greetings Card campaign, to meet three times per year in members houses, or appropriate place, with a focus on AI issues in a social environment.
All members will be kept informed by regular emails, and will be asked to complete ONE action per month, circulated by email by the officers.
The group has "adopted" a Prisoner of Conscience later in the year for whom we can support as well as campaign.
