These are the minutes for the Amnesty London Region Meeting from 6 March 2014 at 7:30pm in the Human Rights Action Centre, 17-22 New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EA.

Local group activities
Two groups had visits from Country Coordinators with Barrie Hay covering Russia for Richmond & Twickenham and Ann Marcus speaking on Egypt to Blackheath & Greenwich. Dr Radu Cinpoes from Kingston University spoke about discrimination of Roma people to the Kingston group.
Blackheath & Greenwich’s book sale raised exactly £3,464.16 last year, while Bromley & Orpington’s jazz night made over £2,000 in January. Mayfair & Soho raised over £600 from their witness vigil, with Bina Patel winning a hamper for bringing in the most money. Westminster & Bayswater’s annual sponsored walk generated over £280.
Wandsworth are hosting a free talk about Chelsea Manning on 12 March
Hampstead & Belsize will be at HRAC for a free film screening of “Box” on Hakamada Iwao on 17 March.
Westminster & Bayswater will hear from Gary Ettle about Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories on 18 March.
Kingston and Richmond & Twickenham groups are jointly hosting a discussion on Human Rights in the UK on 20 March at the Methodist Church, New Malden.
Islington & Hackney’s Pub Quiz will be on 26 March at the Water Poet from 7pm.
Mayfair & Soho will be holding another sponsored historical walk around London. Dates at the next meeting
The new local graduate group Amnesty LDN recently hosted a very successful event at Goldsmiths discussing LGBTI and human rights in Russia after the Sochi Olympic Games with guest speakers Natacha Kennedy, Natalia Prilustkaya, Peter Tatchell and Zoe O’Connell. We look forward to collaborating with LDN at the London Conference.
The art exhibition at RichMix was very well attended, and AIUK director Kate Allen spoke at the opening night.
