Saving the Human Rights Act - next meeting Tuesday 18th October, 7.30pm

Our next gathering is on Tuesday and will focus entirely on saving the Human Rights Act. We have an Amnesty volunteer trainer coming along to lead this workshop so please do attend if you can.

We're all protected by the Human Rights Act. Huge numbers of people in the UK rely on it every year to make sure their rights are protected against the state. But right now, we’re facing the biggest potential rollback of human rights the UK has ever seen as the UK government is proposing to scrap the Human Rights Act and replace it with a British Bill of Rights.

Come along to hear (and plan) on how we can fight to save it:

Date and time: Tuesday 18th October, 7.30pm - 9pm (please arrive from 7.15pm as we will start promptly at 7.30pm)

Address: St Francis Xavier College
10 Malwood Rd
London
SW12 8EN

Room 049 which is on the right as you walk through the front door (ask at Reception if you can't find it)

The nearest tube is Clapham South and here is a map.

The workshop will last for the whole meeting so if anyone has any other business I suggest we take it to a pub at 9pm.

Future dates for your diary:

Tuesday 15th November (7.30pm) – next group meeting at Streatham Friends Meeting House
Tuesday 6th December (5pm-7pm) – carol singing in aid of Amnesty at Brixton tube station
Monday 12th December – Write for Rights (time and location to be confirmed. Any suggestions about where to hold this would be welcome)
