Thank you to St John's, Devizes, for allowing the Devizes Amnesty group to to highlight the work of Amnesty on Prisoner Sunday.
St John's hosted a thanksgiving service aimed at primarily promoting Amnesty and the local Devizes group, it’s work with prisoners around the world, and more locally, the work of the Friends of Erlestoke Prison.
Marcus, an artist, described the experience of prison through his art and after the service there was coffee available and a small display of Marcus’ work together with information about the Friends of Erlestoke, Amnesty, and some information about prisoners such as Hakamada Iwao. Members of the Group were on hand to answer questions and highlight the Write for Rights event on 30 November (see further post).
A representative of LifeLines (www.lifelines-uk.org.uk) was also present. LifeLines supports and befriends prisoners on Death Row throughout the United States, through letter writing and was established in 1988.
