Human Rights Day - commemoration this Tuesday
Please join the Chipping Norton Amnesty Group as we commemorate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in December 1948 - 66 years ago.
We will be gathering around our Amnestree in the New Street Recreation Ground in Chipping Norton this coming Tuesday afternoon (9th December), at 2 p.m. for half an hour or so.
Everyone is welcome to join us in commemorating this landmark in the history of civilisation - "a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction." [extract from the Preamble of the UN Declaration of Human Rights.]
Wrap up warm and join us in marking Human Rights Day in Chipping Norton.
