December and January diary dates!
Please join us for any or all of these events.
- THURSDAY 4th DECEMBER - Chipping Norton Christmas Shopping Evening
We'll have a stall in the Co-op Arcade from 5:30 till 8:15 p.m. We'll be selling Christmas cards, gift bags, gift tags, paper chain kits and small candles and raffling a hamper or two*.
- TUESDAY 9th DECEMBER - Commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Meet at our Amnestree in Chipping Norton's New Street Recreation Ground at 14:00 for a short commemoration ceremony (and photo opportunity) to mark the 66th anniversary of the adoption, by the United Nations General Assembly, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Our Amnestree oak tree is looking healthy and standing tall. Alas, 66 years on, there is still much work to be done throughout the world to prevent human rights abuses.
- THURSDAY 8th JANUARY - Greeting Cards Campaign
Our January meeting will be dedicated to writing greetings cards to Prisoners of Conscience and their families and supporters. We are grateful to group member, Priscilla Peace, who has made the cards for us to sign. Join us in Chipping Norton's Lower Town Hall, 19:30 to 21:00. The more the merrier!
If you would like to know more about Amnesty International and the Chipping Norton Group, please come along to any or all of these events and introduce yourself to one of our volunteers. You can also help us to support the work of Amnesty International by encouraging your friends and neighbours to visit our stalls and/or come to our meetings.
*Donations for inclusion in a hamper will be gratefully received; contact Heather Leonard (01608-643691). The draw will take place at our stall at 8 p.m. on 4th December: winners will be notified as soon as possible after that.
