Chester and Wrexham Amnesty International Group
Eastgate Clock, Chester © evanseasyspace.com

We have an active group with members from Chester, Wrexham, and the surrounding area.  We welcome new members and new ideas.

Meetings are held at 7.30pm on the second Tuesday of the month, alternating between Wrexham and Chester:

We are currently meeting online.

When meeting in person, you'll find us at:

Chester:  We meet in the upstairs function room at the Olde Custom House Pub on 69-71 Watergate Street, Chester. Ask at the bar area for the Amnesty meet and they will direct you to the function room. There is limited parking available on the surrounding streets. There is 'Free after 3' parking 5 minutes walk away at the Market Carpark, on Princess Street - underneath the Market and close to Chester Bus Exchange (click here for map link).

Wrexham: We meet at Peace and Justice Centre, 35 Kingsmills Road, Wrexham LL13 8NH . It is a large residential building on the corner of Kingsmills Road and Bury Street, opposite the Travellers Rest Pub. The ground floor is white, and first floor pebble dash. (Please note that google maps takes you to the wrong point on Kingsmills Road).  On-road parking is available around the corner on Bury Street. We also meet at Wrexham Quaker Meeting House, Holt Rd. LL13 8HN

About us

Here at Amnesty International (Chester and Wrexham group) as with Amnesty International as a whole - we are ordinary people standing up for humanity, human rights and justice. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied.

For our activism, we focus on three specific areas as chosen by the group:

  • Anti-Death Penalty Project
  • Eritrean campaign
  • Campaign in support of Yili [Yiliyasijiang Rehman]

We are also supporting the Rights Raid Week of Action.

We aim to hold three to four events per year, including a mixture of fundraising, awareness-raising, and socials.
