About this group
Welcome to the Chepstow and District Amnesty International group. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the basement of Chepstow’s Methodist Church in Albion Square.
Our aims are to:
- Inform ourselves better about abuses of human rights around the world
- Participate regularly in Amnesty letter writing campaigns and petitions
- Raise money to support Amnesty’s work (we usually have two fund-raising events each year)
Each meeting has a varied programme and always includes lots of opportunity for discussion and involvement in Amnesty’s current campaigns. Usually there is a presentation either by a group member or an Amnesty speaker, and often an activity linked to that. The meetings generally end, after refreshments, at about 9.15pm.
Most meetings are attended by about a dozen members, and these usually include students from the Wyedean Sixth Form Centre. The students also hold their own fund-raising and campaigning activities.
We don't meet during January and August.
