Market stall 17th May - 10:30-1pm
Sign letters against the mass death sentences in Egypt and ask Israel to lift the 'ludicrous' restrictions on nuclear whistleblower, Mordechai Vanunu at this Saturday's market stall. In addition to a letter for signing we will also take a picture to support his case at noon. Please join us.
On 21 April 2014 it was 10 years since Mordechai Vanunu was released from prison after serving his full sentence of 18 years (11 in solitary) for revealing that Israel was manufacturing nuclear weapons, which he opposes. Upon release he was immediately placed under draconian restrictions which violate his rights to freedom of expression, assembly and movement. He cannot help but breach the restrictions, each time he speaks to tourists in Jerusalem or participates in online chats. He longs to travel abroad, outside Israel. To highlight his situation we will take a photo of ourselves at the stall at noon leaving a space for an extra person in our midst with a sign saying "Reserved for Mordechai Vanunu". This will be send to the Israeli authorities and put on facebook etc.
In addition to the actions, there will also be an opportunity to buy second hand books and cakes and to learn more about the Cambridge City Group, Amnesty International and human rights in general.
