Life for Palestinians in Israel - Online Talk on 8 July

Rafat Shantir grew up in Hebron in t he Occupied West Bank where he experienced first hand the difficulties of living under an occupation which favours the Israeli settlers however violent they may be. He experienced the first and second intifadas.
In 2011, he and his sister set up the Centre for Excellence teaching English to Palestinians and Arabic to foreign visitors. Visitors stay in local homes and swop English conversation for Arabic thus helping everyone.
Rafat now lives in Halle, Germany where he set up another branch of the Centre for Excellence in 2018, while his sister runs the Hebron centre day to day.
He will give us some insight into the problems in Hebron and Jerusalem and what life is like for Palestinians living in these cities. He will talk also about the Israeli settlements in the West bank in general.
