Join the local group AGM Thursday 8th May
Amnesty is a member-led organisation and locally, nationally and internationally it needs dedicated activists to fight for human rights.
On Thursday 8th May the meeting of the Amnesty International Cambridge City Group will consist of two parts, focussing both on the national and the local role of activists. The meeting will be held at the Jesus Lane Friend's Meeting House at 7.45pm
The first part will be the local group AGM where officers will be elected for the coming year along with members of the committee. We will look back at the work done as well as look ahead and discuss the campaigns that the group may be involved in, such as the new Stop Torture campaign. Please come along, even if you are not a regular attender, as your input is valuable. You can see what we are doing and if you like, chose how you would like to be involved.
The second part of the meeting will consist of a report from the group's delegate to the national AGMwhich was held in April in Edinburgh. This was an inspirational event where members from all over the UK came together for a weekend of learning, discussion, and decision-making. As a membership-led organisation, decisions made at the AGM are reflected in what we work on, and the way we work. (Click here for more information on the Amnesty UK website).
Both nationally and locally Amnesty cannot work without committed individuals. Therefore do join the meeting on Thursday.
Other events in the coming month include
Tuesday 13th May - letter writing
Saturday 17th May - Market Stall
Wednesday 21st May - Fundraising/social dinner
