Human Rights in Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories talk (Thurs 10th July) and letter writing (Wed 23rd July)

This July the Cambridge City Group organises two events with a focus on Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. This Thurday 10th July there will be a talk by Hannah Slater, Amnesty's volunteer country co-ordinator for Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories and later this month on 23rd July the letter writing evening will also focus on writing for victims of Human Rights violations in this part of the world. Talk on Amnesty's campaign for Human Rights in Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories

Hannah Slater, Amnesty's volunteer country co-ordinator for Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories, will give an insight in the Amnesty campaign.  She will in particular discuss Israeli Palestinian grassroots peace initiatives and projects as well as other Israeli peace initiatives. She will also highlight Israeli conscientious objectors such as  Omar Sa'ad, a young man from the Palestinian Arab Druze community, who has received repeated terms of imprisonment for refusing to do his national service in the Israeli Army. Amnesty Letter Writing Meeting - Focus on Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories

Write letters to and on on behalf of individuals at risk in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. By writing a letter, you can challenge the practices that lead to human rights violations and bring about change.  Newcomers are welcome - no previous letter writing experience required! Information, writing paper and envelopes supplied. You are welcome to bring and pass on information about cases in other countries. Donations to cover the costs of postage are welcomed.
