Human rights events, talks and conference in March (and the last days of February)
March is promising to be full of interesting talks and human rights events, organised by both the Cambridge City group, other Amnesty groups in the region as well as other organisations.
The Zimbabwean human rights defender Jestina Mukoko gives a talk at the Saffron Walden group's AGM on Thursday 6th March. At the following Tuesday, 11th March, the Bury St Edmunds group are hosting a talk by writer Liz Fisher Franks and human rights lawyer Tony Fisher. Two days later on Thursday 13th March the Cambridge City group will hear from Ethan Gutmann, an award-winning China analyst and human rights investigator.
On Saturday 8th March there will be the regional Amnesty conference in Ely about migration with Kate Allen, Director of AIUK as one of the many speakers. In addition to the above the Cambridge city group holds its monthly market stall on Saturday 15 March and letter writing meeting on Tuesday 11th March.
The Cambridge University Palestine Society and Cambridge Palestine Solidarity Campaign are organising several events for Israeli Apartheid Week (24th - 28th February) and Guria UK has organised a HOLI celebration on Saturday 15th, raising funds for trafficking and exploitation in northern India.
