North West Conference - October 2015

In October 2015, Blackburn with Darwen hosted the North West Conference of Amnesty International UK.  It was a day of lively debate, information sharing and learning about Human Rights, with the focus being particularly on refugee and asylum issues.

Blackburn with Darwen is a borough which receives people seeking sanctuary and there were displays and presentations by a number of speakers who had experienced - or were still experiencing - the UK asylum system.  A march into Blackburn town centre in support of refugees was organised by the Chorley and Leyland group and an action for Aster Fissehatsion was organised by the Horn and East Africa Country Coordinator.
