Pick up your diaries. Look out the big red pen. It’s time to mark in an important date - the Amnesty Scotland Activist Conference 2019.

Having focussed on refugees, human rights defenders and crisis campaigning in recent years, this year the conference theme will be on another core area of Amnesty’s work, Individuals at Risk. Standing up for someone in trouble and showing them your support is one of the simplest and most effective forms of campaigning. Knowing that you have not been forgotten and that someone you have never met is fighting for your rights is incredibly powerful. It gives people hope, inspiration and motivation. It also sends a message to the authorities that people around the world are watching what they do.

As with previous years, the conference will be an interesting mix of panels, workshops, updates and most importantly a chance to meet other activists, share what you have been doing, and be inspired for another year of human rights activism. The conference is primarily aimed at Amnesty activists and members including local or student group members, country co-ordinators, network members, trainers and speakers, or individual members.

We will circulate more details of content and open for bookings later in the summer. For now please save the date - Saturday 19 October.

This year again we will have a £5 fee for the Conference. We feel this is proportionate and hope you will understand. However, if this fee is a barrier to attendance, please contact who will be able to register you free of charge.
