Help end child labour

Children as young as seven are mining cobalt in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

They are working in extremely dangerous conditions. Breathing in toxic dust. Lugging heavy sacks of this metal used to power our laptops and mobile phones.

Tech giants are turning a blind eye to this abuse while they profit. But our research has tracked the path of cobalt mined by children into big brand products.

When we stand together, we have the power to end exploitation like this – be part of an incredible movement fighting against child labour.

Your monthly gift could help put the spotlight on electronics corporations profiting from child labour. Help shame them into ensuring their supply chains are free from child-mined cobalt.

What we're doing

Donations from people like you have funded our investigation uncovering the exploitation of children in cobalt mines. We tracked the supply of hand-dug cobalt in the DRC, through a company in China, to some of the biggest consumer electronics corporations in the world.

After raising our concerns, some of these companies have taken little action to ensure they track the origins of the cobalt they buy. The DRC government is also not doing enough to stop child labour in their country.

Your donation could help to fund research, raise public awareness and pressure electronics giants to come clean about their supply chains, and use their power to stop child labour in the DRC’s cobalt mines.

With you, we have the power to make change happen.

Together, our movement has helped bring torturers to justice, secured release for thousands of political prisoners, and improved millions of lives. Please stand with us by donating today.

All donations go to support Amnesty International UK Section Charitable Trust.
