Last week we visited the makeshift camps at Dunkirk and Calais. We saw volunteers and community leaders working tirelessly to deliver food, healthcare, information and friendship. It is high time the UK government showed as much compassion and action.
Torture, arbitrary detention, forced military conscription, no independent media. It is little wonder that thousands of people continue to flee the country in large numbers. So why is the UK government rejecting so many Eritreans seeking asylum in the UK?
