Report on the plight of Syrian refugees in Jordan to be published on Thur 31 October
On Thursday 31 October Amnesty International will launch a major new report on the plight of people fleeing to safety in neighbouring countries in the region, especially Jordan.
The report - ‘Growing Restrictions, Tough Conditions: The Plight of Those Fleeing Syria to Jordan’ - will examine:
• Border “closures” or other restrictions preventing the escape of refugees in the region
• Conditions at the Za’atri refugee camp, the largest camp in Jordan hosting some 120,000 Syrian refugees
• The forcible returning of people from Jordan
• Problems faced by Palestinian refugees from Syria in Jordan
The report will also examine the response of the international community to the burgeoning Syrian refugee crisis.
