Taking Liberties: Immigration Policy and the Law

Local photography gallery and community initiative, Belfast Exposed, has a great looking event happening next Tuesday 11 December, when they welcome "human rights lawyer John Fitzpatrick to a public discussion in the gallery to talk about his practice defending immigration detainees and to dicuss the rights and wrongs of immigration law with the audience."

The talk coincides with their current exhibition, Border Country, by Melanie Friend, "an exhibition of medium-format photographs, with a sound installation of voiced testimonies of asylum seekers and migrants in detention in the UK."

My colleague from the Refugee Action Group, immigration lawyer (and occasional B&B blogger) Anna Morvern, spoke at the launch of the exhibition a couple of weeks ago.

There's a podcast from the launch of a discussion, featuring Anna, on the fantastic Belfast Exposed website, where you can also get an online glimpse of the pictures. Well worth checking out.
