Amnesty's Scottish office provides a focus for our campaigning and fundraising by people in Scotland.

Activities include:

  • Raising Amnesty's concerns with Scottish politicians
  • Getting our campaigns into the media
  • Adapting Amnesty campaigns for the Scottish context 
  • Hosting visiting international speakers on human rights  
  • Helping young people learn about human rights
  • Organising events to raise money and awareness

Scotland's Slaves

Giant Orange Ribbon

Burma 003 much reducedOn the 20th anniversary of huge pro-democracy demonstrations in Burma, Festival goers showed solidarity with Burmese human rights campaigners by holding aloft a giant orange ribbon. Click here to see some pictures.


Pride in Glasgow

Pride Glasgow 2008.JPGWith our Eurovision themed placards and the weather on our side, Amnesty joined over 5000 people to march for LGBT rights at this years Scottish Pride event in Glasgow.  Amnesty's presence there also included a stall, where we aimed to raise awareness of LGBT issues in other European countries, and successfully collected over 400 signed action cards! Local groups

From Shetland to Tweeddale, local Amnesty action groups bring people together to carry out our human rights campaigning. Some groups concentrate on specific aspects of Amnesty's concerns, while others take up a broad range of issues.
