At the close of a crucial evidentiary hearing for Troy Davis, 41, a man who has been on death row in the US state of Georgia for nearly 19 years, Anne Emanuel, legal analyst for Amnesty International USA, said: Given the evidence that emerged from the two-day hearing it is clear that the states case against Troy Davis is thin and tainted. Bloody Sunday inquiry vindicates the innocence of victims

On Sunday 30 January 1972, known as Bloody Sunday, 13 civil rights marchers were shot dead and 14 others were wounded, including one person who subsequently died, by British soldiers in Northern Ireland.
