If I can be a voice - a visual and oral history of five Afghan women living in the UK
From: Thu 15 August 2013
To: Fri 23 August 2013
This is the first exhibition to record the unique experiences of what it means to be an Afghan woman in the UK.
Drawing from the British Afghan Women's Society women's history project, DAWN, it is based on women telling their own stories.
The exhibition tells the stories of five of these women. They share their experiences growing up in Afghanistan and the UK, living through war, revolution and then exile and returning to their home at a time of great uncertainty.
They focus on their Afghan roots and culture, the culture shock of coming into the UK, and their hopes for Afghanistan's future.
