We need to talk about torture
Date: Fri 11 October 2013

Many states ban torture. Many of those states continue to use torture. Professor Evans leads a discussion on what is currently being done to hold states to account, and what more could be done to put prevention truly into practise.
Professor Evans is an expert on torture prevention. He is Professor of Public International Law at Bristol University, the current Chair of the UN Subcommittee for the Prevention of Torture, a member of the FCO's Human Rights Advisory Group, a member of the Organisation on Security and Cooperation in Europe's Advisory Council of Freedom of Religion and Belief, and Deputy Director of the Human Rights Implementation Centre within the School of Law.
