Demonstrate for a human rights revolution
Date: Sat 11 February 2012
Trafalgar Square, London
12 noon - 2.00pm Saturday 11 February
Join us in London for a Global Day of Action to show support for peaceful protestors across the Middle East and North Africa who are demanding an end to poverty, corruption, discrimination and repression.
In 2011 ordinary people in Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Libya and across the Middle East and North Africa summoned up the courage to provide a demonstration of people power such as the region had never seen before. And they sustained it even as the full might of the state and its repressive security forces were deployed against them.
Show your defiance against those trying to supress the growing movement of people standing up for their rights, facing down injustice and seeking to bring about a human rights revolution.
On the day we'll hear from the Director of Amnesty International UK, Kate Allen, along with other prominent speakers from the UK and the region.

Why are we demonstrating?
This has been an historic, tumultuous year: one which saw so much suffering and sadness, but also spread so much hope within the region and beyond.
We continue to stand in solidarity with the people in the streets of Cairo, Benghazi, Sana’a, Manama, Dera’a and elsewhere who were truly 'on the frontline' in defiantly demanding genuine change.
Our campaigning is dedicated to them, their suffering and their momentous achievements. In 2012 we push on further, in solidarity with people peacefully demanding change and in defiance against those trying to stop them – in pursuit of a human rights revolution.
