China Blue

Date: Thu 28 September 2006

Labour behind the label and partners, including Amnesty International, present a screening of the award-winning film China Blue (USA 2005, Dir. Micha X Pelid, 86min). A unique and intimate portrayal of the lives of a group of migrant workers inside and outside a Chinese garment factory, China Blue won the IDFA Amnesty Human Rights Award and was in the official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with activists from prominent Chinese labour rights groups, including:

  • Vikki Chan - Labour Action China
  • Jenny Chan - Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehaviour
  • Lai Ha Cheung - Hong Kong Garment Workers' Federation
  • Patrick Poon - China Labour Bulletin

This screening of China Blue is supported by Scottish Documentary Group, docspace, CinemaNetEurope and Media - a programme of the European Union.
