An evening with Combatants for Peace - Israeli and Palestinian former combatants share their transition to non-violent, joint struggle against the occupation and towards peace.
Speakers:
Nour Shehadeh - A former leader of his local Fatah military wing
Itamar Feigenbaum – A former IDF soldier in the paratroopers brigade
Combatants for Peace is a bi-national grassroots movement. It was founded in 2005 by a group of Israeli and Palestinian individuals who had been actively involved in the cycle of violence in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.
As part of the Encounters national tour, Amnesty International UK is proud to be hosting this unique group of Israelis and Palestinians who will be sharing their personal stories of transformation from violence to non-violence.
Combatants for Peace are represented in the UK by 16 members of the movements steering group, who are responsible for co-ordinating the five bi–national local activist groups operating in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.
They use theatre as a tool for dialogue and action; and in this context the evening will include a Forum Theatre piece, inspired by the stories and life experiences of the group members.
In Forum Theatre, some of the audience might be asked to take an active role in the process, offering them an opportunity to become active in bringing about the change they would like to see.
Tickets are £5 and all proceeds go towards the cost of the Combatants for Peace group visit.
