Detained for nearly eleven years without charge or trial

Former UK resident Shaker Aamer has been held in Guantánamo Bay without charge or trial over 11 years. Call for his release

The UK government has repeatedly called for him to be returned to his wife and four children, all of whom are British and who live in the UK.

The US government is obliged to either bring criminal charges against Shaker Aamer and give him a fair trial or release him.

Now, for the first time, Shaker's case has been raised at the highest level and the Prime Minister is preparing to write to President Obama. This is the biggest opportunity yet to help Shaker out of Guantánamo Bay. Demand Shaker's immediate release
