Amnesty at the Hay Festival
Planning a visit to the fabulous Hay-on-Wye literary festival this year? Come along and visit the Amnesty stand and take action on our 'Mariposa' campaign for women in Nicaragua.
We're inviting festival-goers to help create a giant butterfly wall crammed with inspiring words and images in support of the campaign. So far we've collected over 1000 butterflys.
Hundreds of festival goers have also taken action by creating their own individual butterfly using our digital tool and posting it to their Facebook or Twitter accounts to encourage their friends to also take part in this important campaign. Take this quick and easy action
The butterfly has been chosen as a symbol of freedom and will be used by women's organisations across Nicaragua in their campaign against sexual violence this year, culminating in a demonstration in the capital on September 28.
Don't Miss: Torture Team by Philippe Sands
If you're planning to be at the festival on June 4, you might still be able to grab a ticket for a performance of Philippe Sands' Torture Team before it starts a theatrical run at the Tricycle theatre in London. Amnesty is delighted to be associated with this production, which has a star-studded cast including Vanessa Redgrave, Richard E. Grant, Jay Sanders, Gillian Anderson and Ralph Fiennes.
Thank you to Hay festival for their support

With Hay festivals taking place all over the world, including Spain, Mexico, Colombia and India, we will have the opportunity to spread Amnesty's messages far and wide. We would like to thank Hay Festival for their incredible support of our work.
