Recycle your mobile for Amnesty

Image of the Recycle Your Mobile posterThank you to everyone who has recycled mobile phones for us in the past. We have raised over £50,000 so far from your contributions!

Recycling your old mobile phones and ink cartridges is a green way to raise money for Amnesty International's campaigning work.  And it only takes a minute. Start recycling now

How does it help Amnesty International?

Every phone you recycle with us - regardless of age or condition - raises £5 to support our work. For every recyclable ink cartridge you return Amnesty will receive £1.

As well as raising money to protect and promote human rights, recycling also prevents your old mobile or cartridge ending up in a landfill site, where harmful chemicals can leak into the environment.

Order a freepost envelope at or call 08451 30 20 10 and quote 'Amnesty'

Just pop your old phone(s) in the freepost envelope and then post it to our recycling partner. Don't forget to take out the sim card before you send in your phone.

Feel like doing more? Hold a collection

Free collections can be arranged if you collect more than 15 phones (or cartridges), so why not get your group, school, church or office involved? You can order a box and posters to help you with this or call 08451 30 20 10 and quote 'Amnesty'.

Step by step guide to hold a successful collection:

1. Get permission to hold a collection at your work, school or university and then set the date. We recommend you collect for a maximum of two weeks.

2. Make or find a strong cardboard collection box and put it in a prominent place.

3. Advertise your collection with a poster and email. Download colour poster (pdf, 2.1Mb)

4. Remember to remove all sim cards before sending in the phones for recycling.

5. Let us know how you get on, email fundraise@amnesty.org.uk

6. If you collect more than 15 mobiles or 15 ink cartridges call 08451 30 20 10 and quote 'Amnesty' to arrange a free courier collection.
