Today in 1989 : set up students' networks around the country

Monday, April 24, 1989, was the first day of the city-wide class strike for almost all colleges in Beijing. While not going to classes, students kept themselves busy in organising their own solidarity unions while they called for strike in Beijing residents.

Beijing Students Autonomous Federation called every student to send 10 letters to 10 citizens around the country while they sent over two hundred students to fifteen cities, to give speeches and make networks. These cities included Tianjin, Jinan, Shenyang, Changsha, Chengdu, Xi'an, Lanzhou, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Taiyuan, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan.

http://www.npc.gov.cn/wxzl/wxzl/2000-12/14/content_2286.htm
