Volunteering in Scotland

Offer your skills, contacts and time to Amnesty and join with other volunteers from all walks of life who make Amnesty a more effective force in campaigning for human rights. Volunteers make an enormous contribution to the work of the Scottish office. There are a range of different voluntary positions, utilising administrative, research, marketing and communication skills. In the past, volunteers have built our parliamentary database, chased up the media, run events, explored fundraising opportunities and researched Scottish Government policy.

Are you available in Edinburgh during August? We are currently recruiting volunteers for outreach and campaigning work during the Edinburgh Festival. Find out more about our programme of events and contact the Scottish office if you can help.

Your Availability

We ask that our volunteers are available for a minimum of one day a week (which can be split into mornings and afternoons) for a minimum of three months. However, on occasion there are shorter time placements available depending on the nature of the work required. If this is too much, then joining one of our local groups might be more appropriate.

How to Apply

If you have some time to spare, are within easy travelling distance of Edinburgh and would like to develop your skills while doing something useful, please check our list of current volunteer vacancies at Amnesty UK offices.

If you have particular professional skills which would be of use to Amnesty, or are taking a career break and have some time to volunteer for us here in Scotland, then please call us and we can see if we could utilise your skills. Contact us either by phone +44 (0)131 313 6076 or email scotland@amnesty.org.uk.
