Key accountability documents

We are committed to transparency in all of our work and relationships. We believe that our members, supporters, partners and other stakeholders have the right to know what we are doing. As part of this commitment, we have listed below many of the key documents relating to our work and governance practices. 

As part of this commitment we have developed an open information policy which tells you what information about Amnesty UK is publicly available, how we determine what is published publicly, and how you can access all of this information.  

Our strategy

Amnesty's global six year strategy aims to empower rights-holders whose rights are challenged and strengthen the human rights movement.
 
Our Strategic Direction 2011-2016 sets out the context for Amnesty International UK's work, the key challenges over the period of the current International Integrated Strategic Plan, and the direction that the organisation will take to meet these.

Structure and governance

Amnesty International's purpose and its formal accountability is set out in its Statute. Most recently amended by the 30th International Council Meeting (ICM) August 2011. This independent report by Roehampton University concludes a one year pilot programme of eight teacher training events in human rights education held in 2008-9. It was designed to evaluate the events and to establish the best model for similar future training. 
 
In April 2010, we worked with the International Secretariat to appoint external consultants to conduct an independent review into our work with partner organisations. Read our response
 
This review was commissioned in March 2011 in response to feedback from members following the publication of Amnesty International's corporate accounts in December 2010 which included information about payments made to former Secretary General, Irene Khan, and Executive Secretary General, Kate Gilmore on their departure from Amnesty International.
 
An external review of our Stop Violence Against Women campaign, which drew to a close in 2010. The purpose of the review was to identify key areas of learning and offer recommendations to strengthen our future work.
 
'Right Here, Right Now' is a teaching resource that we developed in 2008 in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, Department for Children, Schools and Families, and the British Institute of Human Rights. This evaluation was commissioned by the Ministry of Justice.
