Amnesty Weekly Lottery

The new Amnesty Weekly Lottery gives you the chance to win some great prizes and support our vital work.  It only costs £1 to enter and every week there will be 15 winners including a lucky winner of £1,000 and once a year our top prize will be a fantastic £10,000!

A Direct Debit is the most secure way to take part: it reduces our costs, maximises the benefit to our campaigns, and ensures you never miss a lottery draw. Of course, you can stop a Direct Debit at any time, if you change your mind.

Terms and conditions

  1. These Terms and Conditions are the Lottery Rules. By entering the lottery, entrants agree to be bound by these rules.
  2. This lottery is being promoted by and on behalf of Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust.  Monies raised by this lottery will support the work of Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust, Registered Charity No 1051681.
  3. For the purpose of the Gambling Act 2005, this lottery is defined as a 'Society Lottery.'
  4. This lottery is run under the licensed held by Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust.
  5. To enter the lottery, you must be resident in mainland Great Britain and aged 16 (sixteen) or over.
    UK law states that no entries can be sold by a person under the age of 16. No entries can be bought by or on behalf of a person under the age of 16. If an entry is sold to, or bought on behalf of a person under the age of 16 they will be exempt from the lottery and their entries money will be returned and they will not be awarded any prize. To sign up online to the lottery you must be over 18 due to Amnesty International's child protection policy.
  6. There will be 15 weekly cash prize winners although additional prizes could be offered from time to time.
  7. Each lottery entry costs £1.
  8. All lottery entry sales are final and no refunds shall be made at any time. All entrants acknowledge that their payment of £1 per ticket to enter the lottery does not guarantee that they will win any prize.
  9. The draw for the prizes will be made at our lottery management company's premises each Friday except on bank holidays when the draw will be made on the subsequent working day. You do not need to be present at the draw to win the lottery. However a list of winners will be available by phoning us on 020 7033 1777.
  10. When a cash prize is awarded, this will be made by cheque in the name of the entrant only.
  11. Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust reserves the right in exceptional and unforeseen circumstances to substitute any of the non cash prizes for a similar prize at Amnesty's absolute discretion.
  12. Full payment for each entry must be received either in the form of cash or cleared funds before that entry can be included in the draw. Only entries for which full payment has been received are eligible to win the prize.
  13. The winners of the lottery prizes will be notified by letter.
  14. All entrants are solely responsible for providing Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust with their accurate and up-to-date contact details and Amnesty will be in no way liable for any failure or inability to contact any entrant due to any errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the contact details that the entrant has provided. In the event that an entrant changes their contact details, they will be solely responsible for advising Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust of the change. Prizes which we cannot deliver because we do not have accurate details or which remain uncashed will go to supporting the work of Amnesty International.
  15. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to take part in promotional activity and Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust reserves the right to use the name and address of the winner, their photograph and audio and/or visual recordings of them in any publicity.
  16. Each entry number is unique. A randomly selected entry number will be issued to players in their confirmation letter.
  17. Lottery membership can be cancelled at any time by notifying Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust in writing, by phone or via e-mail.
  18. Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust shall not be liable to the member for any loss or damage suffered or arising from:
    • any delays or failures in the postal service or other delivery methods used by Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust or the member from time to time.
    • any delays or failures in any software or other systems used by Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust for the administration of the lottery.
    • any delays or failures in the Banking system used by Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust or the member.
    • any refusal by Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust to accept registration of an individual as a member or the cancellation of a member.
    • any failure to enter a chance into the draw.
    • any event beyond the reasonable control of Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust.
  19. Nothing within these terms and conditions shall create or should be construed as creating any form of contract between any entrant and Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust.
  20. Any complaints relating to the lottery should be sent in writing to Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust giving full details of the complaint and supporting documentation.
  21. Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust is committed to protecting members' privacy. Data that is collected from a member is used lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and is used for the purpose of processing lottery chances, subsequent entry into the lottery draw, and informing winners that they have won a prize.  Amnesty International may also write to supporters about other aspects of its work and may share information with other sympathetic organisations.
  22. Any member has the right to access the information held about them. To obtain this information, please contact Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust in writing.
  23. In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, the decision of Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
  24. Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust reserves the right to amend these rules at any time. If Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust does this, it will publish the amended rules on its website
  25. Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these rules.
  26. Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust is licensed with the Gambling Commission to operate this lottery, licence number 004969-N-100270-005. This licence is issued under the Gambling Act 2005. The licence holders are: Kerry Moscogiuri and Charlotte Thrower, Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust, 17-25 New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EA  
  27. Neither Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust nor our lottery management company shall be liable to you in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise for any indirect or consequential loss suffered by you in relation to your participation in the Lottery (including loss of the opportunity to enter the Lottery and / or the chance of winning a prize).
  28. Each entrant should retain a copy of these Terms and Conditions for their reference.
  29. This lottery is a form of gambling. Participants are encouraged to gamble sensibly. Should gambling become a problem we recommend you contact the GamCare helpline on 0845 6000 133 or visit their website on www.gamcare.org.uk
  30. A copy of these rules may be obtained by sending a stamped addressed envelope to Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust at the address below and requesting a printed copy.
  31. The Laws of England and Wales shall govern the interpretation and/or enforcement of these Terms and Conditions and Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust and all entrants hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
  32. Amnesty reserves the right to stop the Amnesty Weekly Lottery by giving one month's written notice to all registered players.
  33. Employees of Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust who work directly on the production of the lottery, and members of their households, are ineligible to enter this lottery. Any entries bought in the name of such Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust employees or members of their households will be rejected from the draw and considered as donations to Amnesty International (UK Section) Charitable Trust.
