Be a Country Coordinator

Our team of Country Coordinators are volunteers who help deliver our campaigns on our portfolio of Individuals at Risk cases, as well as support our thematic projects and country-specific campaigning, focused on the Coordinators' geographical region.

Country Coordinators assist local groups and other activists with their campaigning on various casework, projects and country campaigning within their specialist region.

Interested in joining us as a Country Coordinator?

We are looking for a number of new Country Coordinators to join the regional teams.

All Coordinators are required to communicate regularly with staff in the Casework and Activism team and feedback on their activities on a systematic basis.

Country Coordinators are formed into 13 Regional Teams who work together to shape a plan for their region and support one another as they deliver this work.

  • Former Soviet Union team - 3 vacancies
  • Middle East and Gulf team - 1 vacancy

Is it for me?

Country Coordinators come from all sorts of backgrounds.

Specialist country knowledge and language skills are very useful, but can be built over time. Most importantly you will have:

  • An Amnesty UK membership
  • Familiarity with Amnesty and commitment to our priorities
  • A passion for human rights
  • Lots of enthusiasm
  • Local group activism or other relevant human rights campaigning experience
  • The ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal skills and the confidence to deliver talks - much of the work involves supporting and motivating individuals to take action
  • A willingness to get to grips with the human rights concerns of your country
  • Around 5-6 hours of your time a week to volunteer in the role
  • Willingness to attend meetings
  • Basic IT competency (email, word processing, etc) and access to e-mail and the internet.
