Scottish Parliament

Everyone in Scotland is protected and supported by a commitment to human rights. This commitment was written into the Scotland Act and is binding on the Scottish Government and Parliament.

Human rights are what every human being needs to live a healthy, fulfilled life and participate in society. They now underpin Scotland's standing as a compassionate, inclusive place.

Scotland stands for human rights

During the election campaign we asked candidates to have their picture taken with an Amnesty placard with the message "Scotland Stands for Human Rights" and were delighted with the response. Thanks are due to all the Amnesty groups and supporters around Scotland who took the time to lobby their candidates.

We will be following up with the successful candidates and will provides regular updates on these pages.
