Blind activist Chen Guangcheng has made a bold escape
from illegal house arrest and fled to the American Embassy in Beijing.
The human rights defender and his family
have been held since he was released from prison in
September 2010. He was taken to a Beijing hospital where it is thought he was held with his family. Following reports that Chen and his family have left China for New York we have suspended our appeal until we have more information.
